The Sugbu Chinese Heritage Museum Foundation, Inc. (SCHMFI) was created with the main task of building the first Sugbu-Chinese museum which will showcase centuries of collaboration between the Chinese and Filipino people. It exhibits artifacts, heritage pieces, and a carefully woven historical narrative that will supplement in promoting and preserving the Sugbu Chinese culture, tradition, and legacy.
Our advocacy is to promote and preserve the legacy of the pioneering Chinese migrants who came to Cebu, how they have integrated themselves to the Cebuano way of life, and how they have contributed to the economy of society of the present metropolitan.
To create an institution that values the Chinese legacy through research, curation, and exhibition; conserves the artifacts, documents, and other collections through new technologies and techniques; and enriches the community and the nation through educational programs.
The Sugbu Chinese Heritage Museum Foundation envisions to be the leading institution in the appreciation, preservation, and promotion of the Chinese-Cebuano heritage and culture.
To undertake effective research, documentation, collection and presentation of artifacts by fostering awareness of the Chinese history and legacy in Cebu and the development of activities aimed at simulating the interest of the Chinese culture and influences.
